Nor'easters get back on track with 3-0 shutout of Evergreen FC (VIDEO)

After back-to-back losses to first-place Reading United AC, the Ocean City Nor'easters got back to their winning ways with a 3-0 win over Evergreen FC at Carey Stadium on Saturday night.

Deri Corfe (Wright State / Chester England), Simone Raiola (Grand View / Triuggo, Italy) and Max Hemmings (Georgia State / Wokingham, England) all scored goals for the Nor'easters and Todd Morton (Delaware / West Chester, PA) picked him his second clean sheet of the season as Ocean City improves to 5-4-0 in league play. With the win, the Nor'easters sweep the season series. In the previous meeting back on June 9, Ocean City traveled down to Virginia and pulled out a narrow 1-0 road win over the Hammers. The Storm remain unbeaten all-time (13-0-1) against Evergreen FC.

"We put together a good attacking performance tonight and our finishes were quality," said Nor'easters head coach John Thompson. "Overall it was a solid performance defensively and we looked threatening all night. We asked the lads for more consistency in their 90 minutes and we got that from all 11 players."

The Nor'easters took control early, putting the pressure on the Hammers' backline for most of the first 45 minutes. One of the best scoring chances of the first half came from Corfe who had a shot ring off the post in the 12th minute.

Despite the one-way traffic, the first goal didn't come until the 40th minute when Raiola sent in a cross to Corfe who sent a well-placed ball just outside the reach of Evergreen goalkeeper Jordan Williams. It was Corfe's third PDL goal of the season.

Moments later, Corfe would put another attempt just over the bar as the Storm went into the halftime break leading 1-0.

Fredlin "Fredinho" Mompremier (Fairleighn Dickinson / Limbe Haiti), who was the Nor'easters' leading goalscorer last year, was more of a playmaker on Saturday night. After creating multiple chances in the first half, he was back at it in the second half. In the 60th minute, Mompremier fed a ball behind the defense to Ignacio Tellechea, but the assistant referee judged the play offside.

Two minutes later, Mompremier got it right. The Haitian sensation dribbled through multiple Evergreen defenders and once he drew the defense's attention, he found Hemmings who fired his shot off the post and in for his first goal of the season. For Mompremier, it was his team-leading third assist of the season.

The Nor'easters would remain control as the defense kept goalkeeper Todd Morton well-protected throughout the evening. The Hammers only managed four shots all night and the University of Delaware star didn't have to make a single save.

The Nor'easters would add one more goal in second half stoppage time to put the game to bed. Hemmings fed the ball to Raiola who struck a volley from distance to score his third goal of the season.

Next up for the Nor'easters, they head back out on the road to take on Lehigh Valley United on Wednesday, June 27. It will be the final regular season road game of the year with Ocean City's final four games of the campaign (including two friendlies) all being played in front of their home fans at the Beach House.
