Preview: Nor'easters host NPSL's FC Monmouth in friendly tonight at Beach House

The Ocean City Nor’easters will host FC Monmouth in an exhibition match. The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) side will visit Carey Stadium (“The Beach House”) in Ocean City, N.J., America’s Greatest Family Resort tonight, Tuesday, June 4.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Tickets, like all single-game tickets for Ocean City home games, can be purchased for $10 each. Season memberships, which include all seven regular season home games and any exhibition games, are $50. The easiest way to purchase tickets is to buy them online through the Nor'easters website (OceanCityFC.com). Tickets can also be purchased at the Carey Stadium gate either with cash or with a smartphone.

There will not be a live stream available for Tuesday's friendly. Fans unable to make it out to the Beach House can follow the Nor’easters' Twitter and Instagram accounts for live updates during the game.

"We're excited to have FC Monmouth on the schedule. They are a great local club that provides a high level of competition for our guys to get more minutes before the USL League Two season," said Nor'easters head coach Matt Perrella.

This will be the second all-time meeting between the two clubs. Back on May 14, 2019, the Nor’easters hosted FC Monmouth in a preseason friendly at the Beach House and came away with a 2-0 win. The scoring came from an own goal and a tally from Deri Corfe. It was a sign of things to come as Corfe as he would score in every game that season (including 3 of the 4 friendlies) and was named the 2019 league MVP.

FC Monmouth made their debut in the NPSL in 2018 and has been a member of the Keystone Conference ever since. This past season, they finished in fourth place in the Keystone East Conference with a 3-6-1 record.

Currently, the Nor’easters are undefeated through the first three games of the USL-2 season and sit atop the Mid-Atlantic division with three wins and a +8 goal differential. Ocean City dispatched Lehigh Valley 2-0 over the weekend with goals from Marco Silva (Marshall / Coopersburg, PA) and Alberto Cruz (Memphis / Madrid, Spain).

In the NPSL, Monmouth are in 4th place out of the six-team Keystone East division following a 2-3-0 start to the season. Johnny Troiano leads the team for goals with three. The forward is a rising junior at Rowan University where he has already contributed 20 goals and 9 assists.
