Update: Nor'easters fall to Jersey Express, 4-2

Ocean City's Miguel Jaime scored both goals in the losing effort

UPDATE: Nor'easters fell 4-2 to Jersey Express. Miguel Jaime scored both goals for Ocean City. More details to come.

The Ocean City Nor'easters continue their early start to the 2016 Premier Development League (PDL) season with a visit to the Jersey Express tonight.

The Nor'easters are coming off a big 3-0 win over Baltimore Bohemians this past Sunday in their PDL opener in Maryland. Marcelo Petit, Chevaughn "Chevy" Walsh, and Miguel Jaime all found themselves on the scoresheet giving the team a great start to the year.

They'll face a Jersey Express team who opened their season last Saturday night with 2-1 loss to the New York Red Bulls U23s. Forward Ansger Otto scored the team's lone goal. The match will be The Express home opener and will face a tough opponent in the visiting Nor'easters. Also the Express will be also preparing for their Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Third Round match against the New York Cosmos next Wednesday.

A long history is shared between the two teams. Ocean City is 4-8-4 all-time against the Express and will be trying to snap a five-game winless streak (0-4-1, 2 GF, 10 G.) against their New Jersey rivals.

For tonight's matchup, the Jersey Express are seeking their first points of the season, knowing that a division that includes Ocean City, Reading United and the New York Red Bulls U23s, there is little room for error.

With this competitive mid-week fixture the Nor’easters will look to use momentum from Sunday night’s victory over the Baltimore Bohemians to roll through the Express and into Saturday’s match against Evergreen FC in Leesburg, Virginia looking to keep together what will be a good string of games in the opening stages of the PDL season.

Kickoff is a 8:00 pm at Long Branch High School in Long Branch, NJ.
