The Ocean City Nor’easters is a professionally run amateur soccer club with the focus of developing, educating and promoting soccer, health and leadership. Located in Ocean City, New Jersey, “America’s Greatest Family Resort”, the Nor’easters provide quality entertainment to families throughout the Tri-State area and the thousands of visitors every summer.
The Nor’easters organization was established in 1996 and made Carey Stadium, in Ocean City, NJ, its permanent home in 2005. Competing in North America’s top amateur league, Premier Development League (PDL), the Nor’easters provide the highest level of soccer in Southern New Jersey. The 65-team PDL is the fourth level of soccer in the United States, below the professional leagues; Major League Soccer (MLS), North American Soccer League (NASL) and United Soccer League (USL). As part of the PDL, Nor’easters’ players have the ability to compete during the summer months in a professional environment while maintaining their collegiate eligibility and pursuing their academic goals.
In a league boasting an impressive resume of preparing, showcasing and promoting its players to professional clubs across the globe; the Nor’easters have proven as a “shop window” for top collegiate & amateur players, with over 50 alumni having moved on to play professionally.
In 2016, the club announced the addition of a women's team in an effort to achieve the club’s mission of developing soccer players for the next level. The Ocean City Nor’easters Women will compete in the Eastern Development Program (EDP) u23 Women’s Premier League beginning in the summer of 2016. The team is the latest addition to the growing Nor’easters club that sees the development of the women’s team as a big step for the club itself, the league, and women’s soccer players in the state of New Jersey.
While the Nor'easters excel at helping players achieve their goals of reaching the professional level, they also specialize at helping kids develop their skills in the hopes of earning a college scholarship and reaching those senior teams. Throughout the year, through camps and academies of all skill levels, the Nor'easters give kids as young as kindergarten all the way through high school the tools to take their game to the next level.
The Nor’easters are not only a proving ground for players aspiring to play at the next level, but they have established a tradition of being heavily involved in the community, providing affordable family fun as well as numerous youth programs such as camps, clinics, school visits and more. The club's involvement in the community has twice been recognized with the prestigious “piece of the Boardwalk” award by the Ocean City Mayor and City Council, in 2009 & 2013. The continued community involvement since 2005 has created strong ties with local organizations as well as an established relationship with the City of Ocean City, New Jersey and the Greater Ocean City Chamber of Commerce, an official club sponsor.
The Nor’easters play all their home fixtures, only steps off the beach, at Carey Stadium in Ocean City and benefit from the use of the facilities at the Tennessee Avenue Soccer Complex.
