"Alex is a player that is extremely versatile and capable of playing many roles within our shape. As a youth player, I played him as a target and a wide player in a 4-3-3 and then he drifted back into the flat back four last year and at Monmouth. He was the DEF MVP of the squad last year and we hope to continue his development this summer as he closes his career out next year."
Another local player, Weidman hails from Linwood, NJ, just across the new 9th Street bridge. As a high school player he attended Mainland Regional High School with many great games against Ocean City High School and current Nor’easters teammate Kevin Curran. Alex can play as a forward, and does so with great success for Monmouth, however, he was converted to right back to enhance the Ocean City Nor’easters attacking strength down the right flank. He is one of the fittest players and covers a lot of ground during each game. In his two seasons with us he has played 24 games, over 1330 minutes. His effort and ability was rewarded in 2011 after being named the Nor’easters "Defensive MVP".
