The Ocean City FC PDL team will be holding an open tryout on Saturday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at Rutgers Camden Community Field.

The tryout is open to all players, and after the success of last season, head coach Neil Holloway is expecting a large turnout. "Since the end of last summer we have constantly been recieving emails from players enquiring about how they can tryout for the team. Well, now is their chance."

All players are encouraged to tryout whether they are aspiring players still in high school, established college athletes, or recently graduated playing in local men’s leagues. There is a $20 tryout fee and players should arrive early for registration. Players interested in trying out should email Holloway at nholloway@ocbarons.com.

With the re-branding and re-naming of the Ocean City PDL team, club president Giancarlo Granese is excited about the future of the club. "I am sure after the success of last summer (playing DC United in the Open Cup, reaching the PDL Quarterfinals) we will have a lot of college and high school players out there thinking that it could happen to me this summer".  He added "There is nothing better than spending the summer at the jersey shore playing soccer!"

With the Philadelphia Union kicking off as an MLS team in April and this summer being a world cup year there is a huge buzz in the soccer community and interest in the Ocean City franchise is at a all time high. "I know the union held open tryouts and had an overwhelming turnout.  However, the PDL level is much more realistic goal for a player to get noticed and be given a chance” added Holloway.  The Ocean City PDL franchise have been a conveyor belt of players seeking to play at the professional level in recent years,  "Our job is to find the next up and coming soccer player, give them an opportunity to showcase their talents and pass them onto the professional ranks" said Holloway.
