Ocean City FC is a minor league soccer franchise that plays in the Premier Development League (PDL) -- the top men’s amateur league in North America. The PDL is considered the 4th level of soccer in the United States below Major League Soccer, and the United Soccer League’s First and Second Divisions. Players have the ability to compete in the PDL throughout the summer months in a professionalized setting while maintaining their collegiate eligibility. The league is the proving ground for players that aspire to reach the highest levels of the game, while providing affordable family entertainment to residents and visitors of Ocean City.
The Nor’easters play all of their home games at Carey Stadium, located just off the boardwalk at 6th Street in Ocean City, where they have enjoyed great success. Since the club moved to Ocean City in 2005, the Nor’easters have the second best home record out of the more than 65 North American-based PDL teams.
In conjunction with the city of Ocean City, the Nor’easters will also conduct a number of soccer camps this summer for children from age seven to seventeen. The camps traditionally attract hundreds of children every year. The instructional sessions are staffed by professional coaches and players from the Ocean City PDL team. The young children in attendance at these camps get to learn from, and play with, the same players they watch while sitting in the stands cheering on the Nor’easters.
Mayor Sal Perillo stated, “Our partnership with Ocean City FC is an outstanding success. Their games provide a wonderful family-friendly evening of entertainment, while their camps add to our wide array of children’s recreational programs. I’m pleased that we can now offer tickets to their games on our web site."
