The Nor’easters travel up the NJ Garden State Parkway to face NJ-LUSO Parma

The Nor’easters travel up the Garden State Parkway on Wednesday to face-off with Mid-Atlantic Division foes NJ-LUSO Parma. Kick-off is at 7:30pm at Drew University where Luso-Parma play all their home matches.

Based in Denville, NJ, Luso-Parma were founded in 2007 as the New Jersey Rangers. In the Ranger’s inaugural season, they were thrashed by the then Ocean City Barons 8-1, a historic victory for the Nor’easters franchise. Ocean City dominates this match-up’s all time record 11-1-1. Luso-Parma have never won a division title, with their best season coming in 2012, a fourth place finish in the Mid-Atlantic. NJLP ended last season 7th in the Mid-Atlantic division.

NJ-LUSO enters Wednesday’s match with a 1-4-1 PDL record this season. Starting goalkeeper Ryan Baird has been a standout performer Parma this PDL campaign. He is second in the USL in saves with 29. Other players to watch for NJ-LUSO are midfielders and leading point-getters Yusuf Hamza and Sevag Kherlopain, along with forward Jared Golestani.

Parma boast several alumni who have gone on to play professionally: Jonathan Borrajo (New York Red Bulls, 2012), Dilly Duka (Columbus Crew, 2010-2012), Samuel Patrone (Mjällby AIF, Leiknir Reykjavík, Husqvarna FF, 2011-2013), and Dominic Reinold (Baira-Mar, Covilha, 2011-2012).
