Nor'easters Announce First Wave Of Signings

Award winning returners open against Red Bulls

The Ocean City Nor’easters have announced their first wave of players for the 2013 roster.

Three returners this year have received plenty of awards over the 2012/13 college soccer season.

Tapiwa Machingauta (Zimbabwe U20 & Bradley) – Tapiwa won over all the Nor’easters fans with his tough tackling, no nonsense style in defense and his ability to attack set pieces in the opposition penalty area. In the 13 games he played after forcing his way into the starting eleven he scored 1 goal and helped keep 5 clean sheets.

Coach Tim - “Tapiwa is a big, strong, and fierce central back that has evolved into a natural leader in the DEF 3rd within the Zimbabwean international system, at Bradley and at OC last summer. Not only is he a great ball winner, but his ability to organize, communicate, and keep us lock tight defensively will become quickly apparent.”

Zoncher Dennis (Mt. St Mary’s) – Zoncher finished the 2012 season as the Nor’easters top scorer as he bagged 11 goals in 14 games. He also added two assists throughout the summer campaign. His ability to be in the right place at the right time will have a lot of players on edge before they come to Carey Stadium this summer.

Coach Oswald - “Dennis is extremely dangerous, dynamic, and an elusive forward in the ATT 3rd.  He is a precision finisher that’s a proven goal scorer at both the college and PDL levels.  As a lone target, he can do so many things well because of his ability to create separation from defenders in an array of ways.”

Duke Lacroix (Penn) – With speed to burn and skills to go with it has full backs playing deeper than they want to. Duke got 3 goals and 2 assists in 2012 as he played in all 16 games to help win the Mid-Atlantic Division. Duke is looking to build on his Freshman PDL season by being an even bigger influence on the team in 2013.

Coach Oswald - “Duke offers an immense amount of pace in the wide areas of the field and forces teams to adjust and deal with his athleticism in transition in the MFD and ATT 3rd.  His flair and sheer speed will allow us to deviate at times from a possession style and be slightly more direct.”
