International Experience In The Nor'easters Lineup

Top youth internationals sign with the Champions

The Ocean City Nor’easters cast their net far and wide in order to bring in the best players for our loyal fans to watch. This year has been no different. Let’s look at some of our internationally recognised players for 2013.

Abe Keller (U19 Switzerland & Dayton) – Abe is from the small town of Kreuzlingen, Switzerland but has found himself playing at Dayton University, one of the most respected teams in all of college soccer. He picked up the All Atlantic Rookie of the Year Award in 2011 but before his college days he was a four time National Champion with FC Basel as well as representing Switzerland from U15 – U19 levels.

Coach Tim -  “Abe can virtually player anywhere in the MFD 3rd going forward.  As a Swiss International, he has scored some cracker goals in his career and we are hopeful that he finds his niche here with us in OC.  He really can be creative in small spaces, but overall, he makes everyone around him better.”

Jordan Murrell
(U20 Canadian & Syracuse) – Jordan is a 5-10 defender who is making waves in the college and international soccer scene. In the Fall of 2012 Murrell started all 21 games for the Orange Men and was named to the All-Big East Third Team after helping post 12 shutouts. Jordan played his club soccer with Toronto FC Academy and was captain in his U18 season. On the international scene he was the U18 Canadian National Team Captain and part of the U20 National Pool.

Coach Tim – “Jordan had a tremendous year this past year with both Syracuse’s run into the NCAA Sweet 16 and his run with the U20 Canadian National team in Canada after serving as their captain in his U18 year.  He is a fabulous left sided player who can do a ton of positive things for you on both sides of the ball, but his ability to serve balls can be seen as his top attribute.”

Mike O’Keeffe
(U23 New Zealand National Team & Fairfield) – O’Keeffe is a 6-1 goalkeeper, hailing from Christchurch, New Zealand, who has established himself as the Fairfield number 1 going into his senior year. He was the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2011. O’Keeffe gained international experience as a member of the New Zealand Under-15 and Under-17 squads.  He also played for New Zealand’s Under-17 World Cup team, and served his teammates as a captain during his stay with the team.

Coach Tim -“Mike is a proven and established GK at both the collegiate and international level with New Zealand.  He excels in all areas from that position- shot stopping, distribution, communication, and dealing with service. He is hoping to use this final season post graduation at the PDL level to position himself with some opportunities to play at the next level.”

Chel Kim Ho Park (U20 South Korea National Team & Radford) – Park hails from South Korea and came to Radford University via Spain. He is a technically gifted player who started all 19 games in the Fall of 2012 scoring 5 times and getting 5 assists. Park has represented South Korea at U17, 19, 20 and is part of the U23 South Korean National Team Pool.

Coach Tim “Chel has come into his own at Radford after having success for South Korea at the U17/19/20/23 National Team levels.  He makes guys around him better and serves as quite the visionary player as he was among the national assist leaders in the country within the past few years.  He covers so much ground in transition and allows you to match him up with so many different types of players in the MFD 3rd based on opponent.”

Jhamie Hyde (U19 Jamaica National Team & Coastal Carolina) – Hyde is a strong 6 foot defender who has come off the back of a big Fall season after receiving a Big South All-Freshman team selection and named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week (Oct. 22). Jhamie Hyde has represented his home nation of Jamaica with the U15, U17 and U20 National Teams.

Coach Tim – “Jhamie has quickly established himself as a top CB on the college and international levels (Jamaica) as an incoming freshman last year.  He is an excellent reader of the game and offers quality to us in the DEF 3rd.”
