Barons save point at Richmond

Carmichael scores twice, Ortiz equalizes in 3-3 draw

The Ocean City Barons battled back from a 2-0 halftime deficit and earned a 3-3 draw on the road at the Richmond Kickers Future on Saturday night. Byron Carmichael pulled the Barons level just after halftime with two goals in less than two minutes, in the 50th and 51st minute. Kevin McFadden scored his second of the game for Richmond in the 66th, but Jeremy Ortiz, who assisted on Carmichael’s first goal, scored the game-tying goal in the 76th minute. Adam Edwards made three saves for Ocean City, while Andrew Dykstra made six stops for the home side.

Carmichael’s goals were the 30th and 31st of his Barons career, pulling him within six goals of Ruben Mingo’s club record of 37. The Barons pull within five points of the first place Hampton Roads Piranhas in the Mid-Atlantic Division. No time to rest for the Men In Red, as they travel to Williamsburg, VA Sunday night to take on the Virginia Legacy at 7:00 p.m.
