The Ocean City FC girls were back at another tournament just one week after the highly successful Lehigh Valley Steamroll event. The U9, U11, U12 and U13 age groups were in action in an all round successful time for Ocean City FC.

The U9 girls got off to a great start by beating WSC/SST Napoli 1-0 in a tight encounter, this game was followed up by a 2-2 tie with Dutch Total Soccer (DTS). On the Sunday the girls were bought down to earth with a bump as they were beaten 5-0 by Millburn Magic. However, Ocean City FC had done enough to be a part of the 3
rd/4
th place playoff game against Moorestown United. After a wonderful game with great skill and determination it finished 1-1 and Ocean City FC U9s were awarded 3
rd place at the Central Jersey Invitational tournament.
Coach Steve praised the girls hard work over the weekend, “The girls worked very hard in some difficult conditions. The effort was always there and in the final game we started to expand the way we play to find a final pass or shot at the end of our dribbling. The girls are looking more comfortable on the ball and are really coming together as a team. We have 2 weeks of practices left and I hope the players learn a lot in that time.”

The U11 girls coached by Dan Ash started very well with a 3-1 victory over WSC/SST Roma before losing narrowly 2-1 to Dutch Total Soccer (DTS). Ocean City FC needed to beat FC Copa Roma on the first Sunday game to progress to the 3
rd/4
th place playoff game and they did so 2-1 in an evenly contested match. The playoff game was one victory too far for the plucky U11s as they lost to Rage FC Premier 3-1 as the long weekend came to a close.
Coach Dan spoke to us after the tournament, “It was a successful weekend for us, we achieved some good results but we are starting to play some good expansive attacking soccer that I like to see my teams do. We have a few more weeks of practices and we will be preparing for the Maps Cap Classic tournament.”

Coach Leon bought the U12 Girls to Fort Dix on the back of a Lehigh Valley Steamroll tournament victory. The girls were warned about complacency as they entered their round robin league style event but there was no need to worry as they came out 3-0 winners over Rage FC Premier and 4-1 winners over Beachwood Sunrays on the Saturday. A 4-0 win against Elizabeth YSC and a 4-1 victory Twin County Force ensured the tournament title to Ocean City FC.
Leon came to talk to us after the tournament and gave us his thoughts, “The girls played very well and it is fun to see that there is so much more potential to tap into. We must keep working hard and prepare for the Maps Cap Classic as we will no doubt be playing stronger teams. If they continue to work hard in practice then there is no telling where this group of girls could go.”

The U13 Girls were also in action at Fort Dix and Coach Leon Brown was in charge here too. The girls played two tough, closely fought games but the result went the other way losing 2-0 to Sky Blue FC and 3-2 to Soccer Institute. The Sunday saw a better showing and a great result of 6-1 over the Dutch Total Soccer club. However, this was not enough to see them into a playoff game.
Coach Leon shared his thoughts with us after the tournament, “This team can play very well in short spells but it is important to play well throughout the whole game. The teams we come up against will punish our mistakes so we must work hard in practice to erase as many mistakes as possible. The U13s have some great potential and it is up to them and myself to bring it out of them.”
The girls will next be in action at the Maps Caps Classic held at Fort Dix on the 21st and 22nd of July.
